“Let me walk you back to your office.”
I jumped at his voice right behind me. “You don’t have to do that.” I took the towel from his outstretched hand.
“What kind of guy would I be if I didn’t walk you back after the amazing lunch you brought me?”
Washed up and looking much more presentable, we walked out of his building. Our hands brushed against each other until he threaded his fingers through mine. My chest filled with a lightness that always came from being around Ash. I'd never been around someone where it all felt so easy before.
We crossed the busy street. Ash held up his hand to stop a car that tried to make a turn and dropped his hand to my waist. His thumb running along the small of my back.
“Everyone’s always in a hurry. They should stop and smell the roses every so often.”
I looked over at him. “Says the man at his desk until ten most nigths.”
“Says the woman doing the same.” He gave me a gentle swat on my butt.
“Since I leave tomorrow, I'll wrap things up early tonight. There’s a meeting I need to get to across town, but I can meet you at my place at eight?”
“Does that mean no sharing a taxi after work?” I grinned at him. We were lucky we hadn’t ended up in jail after our last taxi ride.
“I see those dirty, dirty thoughts swirling in your head.”
“It’s not my fault, I swear.” I held my hands up in mock surrender.
“It is and so is this.” He tugged my toward him.
The unmistakable weight of his erection pressed against my stomach.
“What the hell? Did you take some Viagra when I wasn’t looking?”
He threw back his head and laughed. “It’s what you do to me. I had to tuck it up in the waistband of my boxers or everyone would know how much I’m looking forward to dinner. I’ve got to go through a cab ride and a meeting like this.”
“Poor thing.” I trailed my fingers down his chin and kissed him.
“Evil woman.” He put his briefcase between us, covering his crotch.
“I’ll see you at eight.” I backed up, walking toward my building backward.
“And not a minute later.” He held up his arm to hail a taxi, but his gaze didn’t leave mine until the glass doors of my building closed in front of me.
Leaning against the elevator wall, I closed my eyes and tried to get the dirty daydreams out of my head. Game face ok, I stepped out of the elevator onto my floor.
“I know, I didn’t even know he could frost that window.” Two of the junior associates walked past me.
“I hope it doesn’t become a regular thing. That will totally spoil our lunch break.”
“Hey Keely, did you see Ash’s window was frosted? Is that a new thing? Is eh sick of us gawking at him? Where were you?” She glanced down at her watch.
I ducked my head mumbled something about running errands. Slipping into my office, I closed my door and sat behind my desk. The sun shifted, bouncing off Ash’s window. Concentrating with him there was almost impossible, so it was good he had a meeting.
Firing up my computer, I got to work on the next set of presentations I’d need pull off to impress the partners. Rubbing my shoulders, I rolled my neck to release some of the tension there.
I looked up at a gentle knock on my door. My eyes got wide.
“Did you want me to take your trash?” One of the cleaners pushed open my door.
I jumped up out of my chair and my gaze shot to the time on my computer. Shit! It was already 7:55pm.
“Sure, yes, you can take it.” I saved all my work, gathered up all my things. Shoving everything into my bag, I threw the strap over my shoulder and rushed out of the building. Sweat broke out on my forehead. How had I gotten so caught up in work? It was like most nights before Ash. Late nights and early mornings chained to my desk. I ordered a taxi with my phone and cursed surge pricing, but taking the train would make me even later.
The ride over wasn’t too bad and I hustled into Ash’s apartment. He hadn’t sent me a text, maybe he was running late too. Maybe I could beat him there.
The doorman had ushered me into the elevator as soon as I got to Ash’s apartment building. Stepping onto his floor, I checked the time. Fifteen minutes late. My feet sunk into the plush carpet masking my footsteps. Raising my hand to knock, I looked through the crack in the door. A gentle flicker bounced off the walls.
My stomach shot into my throat. Fire! I pushed open the door ready to jump into action.
“I wondered if you’d gotten hung up at the office.” Ash tugged a bottle of champagne out of an ice bucket and popped the cork. Candles covered the apartment. The gentle light of their flame kissed the sides of the glass votive holders. They were dotted all over the apartment.
“Wow.” I dropped my bag at my side. “You did all this after your meeting?”
He strolled over to me with two glasses of champagne. “I made a few phone calls. I wanted to make this night special.”
“You're here, so it already is.” I took a sip of the Champagne. The bubbles tickled my nose.
“Make sure you didn’t forget about me while I’m away.” A flicker of anxiousness clouded his gaze.
“I could say the same thing. You’ll be off galavanting all over...where are you going again?”
“Seattle.” He took my hand in his and moved me around the floor, leading me in a dance to the gentle music playing in the background.
I wrapped my arm around him, careful not to spill my drink. “You’ll be running all over Seattle, how do I know you won’t forget about me?”
“Not even a tragic bout of amnesia could erase you from my memory.” He took the glass from my hand and set it on the table. Sitting on it, he pulled me between his open thighs. “I’m going to miss not being able to see you every day.”
My heart leapt. I still didn’t know what this was with him. I didn’t understand why he was with me when he could be with anyone, but I wasn’t willing to give him up yet. Dragging my fingers through his hair, I smiled as he nuzzled my hand and kissed my wrist.
“It will be over before you know it. And I expect some pretty spectacular back in town banging to make up for your absence.”
My laughed and slipped his hands along the waistband of my skirt.
“That can be arranged.” He tugged my shirt out and unbuttoned it like he had all the time in the world.
I resisted the urge to cover myself. It wasn’t like he hadn’t seen every inch of me before. Somehow being exposed while he was clothed felt different. I got to work on his shirt, unbuttoning it and trailing my fingers down his defined, muscled chest.
“Now we’re even.”
“If we’re going tit for tat, I’m more than happy to oblige.” He dragged my zipper down the side of my skirt. It pooled at my feet.
I’m sure you are. “I unbuckled his belt. He lifted his ass to help me get his pants down. Working my hand up and down his straining erection, I licked my lips.
“Speaking of which, I owe you some payback for lunch.” Sinking to my knees, I held his gaze. I licked my lips as I held his hard length in my hand. My fingers of one hand tightened around the base, while I ran my thumb over the head. A pearl of pre-cum seeped out. I swiped my thumb over his thick mushroom tip and shoved it into my mouth.
“You give the most delicious payback I’ve ever experienced.” His fingers tightened around the edge of the table.
I smiled with a wicked grin. “You ain’t seen nothing yet.”
